Fun in the sun, naturally, without the burn!

Summer of 2018 started off rocky for my family, but has gradually gotten better. The rain stopped, the sun is shining, and another school year has come to a close. With that said, it's time to break out the sunscreen, swimsuits, and beach towels--- Here in Florida, we live in the water during the summer!

In the past we've used traditional sunscreens. Yes, the stuff loaded with chemicals, that burns your eyes. You know, the sun protection that has to be reapplied every 20 minutes, and leaves you feeling like you've been swimming in an oil slick. True story ---- I didn't know until recently that sunscreen absorbs into your skin (leeching chemicals into your body!) I guess I'd never given it any thought before? Gross!

This summer, my family is embracing the sun naturally, with Goddess Garden. These sunscreens are made from all-natural minerals. They provide effective sun protection, without synthetic chemicals. As an added bonus, every Goddess Garden sunscreen is certified organic, biodegradable, reef safe, cruelty free, vegan, non-nano, and non-GMO! 100 % good stuff!

How do Goddess Garden natural sunscreens work? Well, they contain natural minerals; zinc and titanium, that reflect the sun’s rays. They last longer in the sun & don't irritate skin like synthetic chemicals can. They're also effective immediately and won’t break down in the sun!

Goddess Garden offers sunscreens for both adults and children, in everyday and sport varieties. There's even a line of sunscreens made specifically for your face! Plus, each Goddess Garden natural sunscreen is SPF 30. They're long lasting, easy to apply, non greasy, and have no added fragrance. Most importantly, they actually work! We've been using them daily, and have had fantastic results!

Try Goddess Garden natural sunscreens for yourself --- Your skin will thank you!

Whether you're entertaining for the holidays, or tailgating, these trays are sure to please. They're available in 3 varieties: Hard Salami & Pepperoni, Honey Ham & Turkey, and the Supreme Party Tray. Found at your local grocer, the Hormel Gatherings Party Trays come pre- made, and ready to eat. Simply open the packages and arrange the meats, cheeses, and crackers on the party tray--- It's that easy!

Supreme Party Tray

This year, I was tasked with providing the appetizers for our yearly college football rival game get- together. I had no clue what to bring! Luckily, I had the opportunity to try the Hormel Gatherings Party Trays. They made my game day prep soooooo much easier! I chose the Honey Ham & Turkey, and the Supreme Party Trays. Each tray was loaded with food, and I was surprised at the variety available in each tray. The honey ham & turkey tray includes: honey ham, turkey, cheddar cheese, colby jack cheese, and round crackers. The supreme tray includes: hard salami, genoa salami, pepper jack cheese, havarti cheese, round crackers, and pitted olives. Each comes with a serving tray & lid. It really doesn't get any easier...

Honey Ham & Turkey

The meats, cheeses, & crackers are good quality, and the pitted olives are briny and delicious. They're the perfect combination of finger foods for entertaining! Next time you're hosting a get- together, keep Hormel Gatherings Party Trays in mind--- These ready- made trays are a must have for stress free party planning!

Sterno for the holidays!

As the holidays draw near, we're all thinking about family, togetherness, shopping, and of course... good food. It seems these things go hand in hand. For me, coordinating a get together with friends & family, can be tough. I'm not the most organized person, and all of the cooking and cleaning can easily overwhelm me. Then, throw the kids into the mix, and we may as well just order pizza for dinner!

Seriously though, I enjoy spending time with loved ones, but I am not necessarily the best host. Sure, I can easily host small, spur of the moment, get together's with friends --- But anything that requires planned cooking, I have the hardest time with! My biggest issue: time management. I can't seem to get everything from the stove to the table, while it's still hot and delicious. By the time the main entrée is out, the sides are luke warm at best.

Ughhhhh. Pizza sounds better and better every time...

To try and hone my skills (in preparation for the upcoming holidays ), I decided to host a practice dinner. Of course, I needed willing participants AND a menu. Since I've been working days, this was a little tricky... I settled on a "Breakfast for Dinner" theme, and secured some friends and their families as my "guests". The menu: Scrambled Eggs, Sausage, Pancakes, Fresh Fruit, and Brownie Muffins.

Nothing goes cold faster than breakfast food. Seriously --- Eggs go cold in like 5 minutes! The challenge: Find a way to serve breakfast food to a large group of people, while it's still hot! I won't bore you with the details, explaining the trials and tribulations of this challenge... However, I did find a solution. A glorious, brilliant, simple solution. The solution: Sterno Buffet Chafer.

If you've never used Sterno, you have no idea what you're missing! It's quite possibly the most convenient & portable fuel (and heat) source. When combined with the buffet style chafing dish, it makes hosting dinner so much easier!

The Buffet Chafer comes with a foldable frame for compact storage, and has two ½ food pans. It's constructed of stainless steel, so it's quite durable, and you don't have to worry about it rusting. It also includes 2 fuel holders, 1 fuel holder tray, a lid, and a 4” deep water pan. Each can of Sterno has a 2 ¼ hour burn time, so you'll need to plan how many cans you'll need for your event. Aside from that, set up is quick and easy!

Once the Buffet Chafer is set up, you just add an inch of hot water to the water pan, position the 2 Sterno cans ( in the fuel holders) below the water pan, and light them. The Sterno heats the water, so when you put the food pans in place, the food stays warm! The lid fits snug against the pans, and keeps the heat in while no one is actively serving from the pans. It's an ingenious setup, that saved me from serving cold eggs!

My "Breakfast for Dinner" was a huge success! The food was hot & delicious. We enjoyed good company and good food, thanks to Sterno's Home Buffet. The best part is that I'm now ready to host Thanksgiving! If anyone wants an invite, let me know --- This year I'll be serving hot food!

Getting some much needed rest...

For me, sleep doesn't come easy. I have a hard time getting comfortable, and end up tossing and turning all night. Which leads to very little rest, and I usually wake up tired. Sure, sleep aides help sometimes, but they're unpredictable. Ultimately, a good night sleep depends on a combination of exhaustion & proper bedding.

I've come to the conclusion that my pillows weren't well suited for my sleep style. I'm a side sleeper, and rely heavily on the support of my pillows cushion my head and neck just right. Otherwise, I just can't get comfortable enough to fall asleep. I opted for a firmer pillow, and found much success.

Since I was looking for a firm pillow, made specifically for back and side sleepers, I decided to give the Snowman pillows a try. They're a hypoallergenic down & feather blend, with a luxurious 6000 thread count cotton surrounding. Being made of cotton vs a poly blend, these pillows breathe better. This helps to keep you at a desirable temperature while you sleep, and wicks any moisture. If you've ever woken up sweaty, you'd appreciate the wonders of a good cotton pillow.

The down & feather filling provide a nice firm support. Almost too firm at first, but they can easily be formed to any position. This helps to give you the best possible support for your head an neck. Which makes it so much easier to fall & stay asleep. Since I started using the Snowman pillows, I've be sleeping much better. In fact, I replaced my (more espensive) leading brand pillows with them!

How do the Snowman pillows rate against leading brand pillows?

I compared the Snowman pillows to similar pillows that I purchased at a department store. I was quite surprised by how well they fared against bigger brand pillows.

• They provide more support --- The amount of down & feather filling is greater in the Snowman pillows!
• The cotton cover is much nicer --- Leading brand pillows allow for feathers to pop out, exposing prickly quills. Snowman pillows have a thicker cover, and the feathers stay inside the pillow!
• The price can't be beat! For the price of one leading brand, department store pillow, you get TWO Snowman pillows!
• Care --- This is the only thing that both brands share. Both sets of down & feather pillows recommend dry cleaning as the preferred method of care.

Over all, Snowman pillows are far superior to the top brands of down & feather pillows being sold in department stores. They're better quality pillows, that provide better sleep!

Try them for yourself!
