I typically make my own laundry detergent. It's a more natural spin on traditional detergent, and works well for cleaning clothes. However, on the kids play-hard weekends, I do find myself loading up on stain sticks and sprays. Looking forward to the summer, with many more play days... I figured I really need to find a happy medium with laundry. This meant finding a summertime detergent that can be used for the toughest stains, and not cost an arm and a leg.

For Tough Stains
Pretreat by applying some detergent directly to stains and rub into fabric. Allow formula to sit on stains for 5 minutes. For added power, use ¾ cap of detergent in wash
After about 3 weeks of throwing my kids dirtiest clothes at this detergent, I decided it will definitely be a great addition to our household this summer!
Did it live up to our toughest stains? Not entirely... While I did see some serious improvements, some of the stains did not come completely out. That being said, it did work beautifully on grass and dirt stains. For some reason, food stains just didn't want to come out. Even after pre treating! They did lighten quite a bit, but I'm not so sure about the 100 stain claim.
What did impress me, was that the colors remained bright. There was absolutely no residual fading, and everything came out clean and fresh. The detergent has a pleasant smell on its own, and leaves laundry with a very light, fresh scent. Plus, this detergent does NOT break the bank! I priced it in local stores, and was quite surprised that it was reasonably marked. Not nearly as cost effective as my home made detergent, but definitely worth keeping around for the kids dirty days!
Overall, it's a great detergent. It works well on dirt, and most stains. For the really tough stains, it does lighten them quite a bit--- without fading colors! The fresh scent & reasonable price are the cherry on top. I'll definitely be adding Purex® plus Clorox 2® detergent to my summer laundry routine. This summer I'm going to spend less time washing clothes, and more time making memories!
